A world of biro curated living. Shouten is the brain child of the creators behind menswear label biro. A concept space rather than a flagship store, this compact 310sqft area is built solely on naturally produced indigo coated wood from Tokushima, Japan. It is layout to reflect the biro aesthetic and its original brand philosophy -


A writing instrument, is often the starting point to every ideas and process. We continue to express the quality of design beyond clothes making, elevating thoughts and concept through the pursuit of beauty and perfection in interior, architecture and furniture making.


Characteristics of this space include the beauty of imperfection, simplicity, modesty and appreciation of objects and spaces. In our modern fast paced lifestyle, shouten aims to provide the individual with a mean to slow down and appreciate the quality of life through spaces, environment, products and feelings.


On top of the principle products, a new collection crafted from natural dyes and organic cotton is also introduced. Employing sustainable manufacturing, this is an effort to bring awareness about social improvement and environmental issues.


Shouten will remain as a small extension of the biro brand’s core beliefs in craftsmanship, appreciation of details, story-telling and a quality way of life. It doubles up as a platform to showcase these elements to a wider audience through the use of the space and its curated products.

Yamaya 7736 Olive
Yamaya factory is located in Hironori Town, Nara Prefecture. Hirouri Town is surrounded by gently sloping mountains, and it is also the center of Nara socks production. In the past, cotton was widely cultivated and cotton weaving was actively carried out. There are many ruins of the Kofun period, a history and textile industry town. The raw material is carefully selected from internationally certified organic cotton which has not been processed with softeners or other chemicals during the yarn-making process.
